Big Water

The fishing today was in big brown water at 3 foot over the stone, but with great skill and determination we fished it hard. Thanks to the Millar/Williams party for giving it their best shot over the past 3 days in tricky conditions.
By the way, we are entering one of last weeks two fifteen pound fish in the TGA fish of the month competition.

Fly Fishing in the Craigs

At nearly 2 feet below the Stone, the Craigs, Lodge End and Bothy are fishing beautifully with the fly. All of the party fished the last day of their three hard as always with the fly and it was a pity there was a lack of fish on the beat for the effort put in. However, fly fishing (and wading) legend Jim Duffield was rewarded with a fresh Grilse of 6lb in the Craigs.

August Fishing

Lost a good one and got one.

The river is dropping fast but the water is cooling. We saw fish coming in between 3.30 and 5 with James Duffield losing one after some good wading at the redbreas. His father Mike landing a 6lb grilse in the fireshot fishing the fly in the morning, first rope, was the only fish of the day though. And here is the worst picture of a fish I have ever taken - sorry Mike. Hen fish returned.

Fresh Fish

We had some more catches this week.
On Thursday, Greg Mcarthur got this lovely grilse in the Craigs on a harled Scullhead, well done Greg.

On Saturday, Brian Crawford landed this 15lb hen, an absolugte beauty on the kynoch also in the Craigs and five minutes after his pal John got a fresh Grilse on a kynoch, both were licers.
Later that evening Jimmy Williamson got another 15 cock fish on the fly in the Craigs and a 3lb sea trout, fantastic!

Holland House Electrical

Although the season has been poor so far (not through the lack of fishing effort), it looks like the river is picking up. Holland House Electrical fishing this week have done there best considering the lack of fish on the first five beats above the Almond. Peter Morrison got the week under way with a lovely grilse on a pink and white tay lure.
Fly fishing guru Colin Dunnet got a sea-trout at the Five Trees and others have been unlucky with on-offs.
I will put in a post later with how we got on today. Cheers.
