Big Water
This week has seen the snow melt take the river right up the lawn in front of the hut. It is on it's down and was at 4 foot on the gauge when I left today so lets hope it loses another couple of feet quick.

A Good Day
Friday was another cold day, in fact it snowed all the time. Ross Mcgregor managed to get a couple on the fly again including a wee sea trout, but a hard shift so fair play to him.
By Saturday morning there was a slight thaw with the water above the stone and rising but the river was clear and the sky was blue. Ross was back with Jim Kilgour and between them took 4 kelts on the fly from the bank in the morning whilst Greggor Nimmo and Peter also landed 4 and lost a few from the boat.
We were all looking forward to a busy afternoon and were joined by Jock Tait after the the break. Well the boat went from top to bottom without a touch and the lads on the fly were seeing no more action also. However - at about 3.30 a shout came from the direction of the five trees and Mr Tait. A beautiful 8lb sea liced springer to the copper toby had been successfully landed and returned - fantastic stuff Jock! And that was the only pull off the afternoon - easy.

Great fun
If you love your fishing (and you've got to), then brave the snow and a bend in the rod ain't far away. Ross Mcgregor and Jim Kilgour have had lots of sport despite the snow, and all on the fly from the bank. Ross also got a nice sea trout today. Greggor Nimmo and Sandy also had fun this week on the Vision and kynoch.

Spring
Happy New Year folks. Cold but great height for fishing with the level 1 foot below the stone. Thanks to Sandra Robbins for blessing our boat, and all who came on the 15th. Those who have braved the water since have had good sport with kelts and baggots and it won't be long before we get the 'real deal'.
Bank rods are availible at £21 + vat and the boat is availible on request for an additional fee. See fishpal or my number is 07762464407.

2012
The 2012 season was a bit mixed for Upper Redgorton, with generally good fishing to be had either side of August (which was pants due to high and coloured water). Three stand out highlights would be Greggor Nimmo's 18lb springer, Hugh Robbin's 32lb fly caught shark, and Callum Hay's 26lb fresh extention belter!
The boat will be on from the start of 2013 and bookings can be made either through Fishpal or through Jim Taylor who has his details on the fishtay web page for Upper Redgorton. You can also get me on 07762464407, tayhayurg@gmail.com.

Good Start
The river is level with the top of the stone and a bit coloured, but not bad. Boat is back on and a good start on day one with my guests Keith and Katrina getting an 8lb grilse and a sea-trout straight away on the fly (anchored) at cochrans and 5 trees.

Next Generation
Callum and Hugo Hay well pleased with their first catch. The river seems to be on its way up but still 1 foot 4"below the stone.
